Signs of gum disease
- Gums that bleed when you brush or floss
- Red, swollen or tender gums
- Bad breath that doesn't go away
- Gums pulling away from your teeth
- Loose teeth or a change in your bite
Gum disease is very common, and it often doesn't hurt in the early stages. Left untreated, it can lead to tooth loss.
How we treat it
Early gum disease can often be reversed with a professional cleaning and better home care. For more advanced cases, a deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) removes bacteria and tartar below the gumline, followed by regular maintenance visits to keep it under control.
