If the thought of a dental visit makes your heart race, you're far from alone. Many of our patients tell us they put it off for years. The good news: a few small things can make a big difference.
1. Tell us when you book
Just saying "I'm nervous" helps. We'll plan extra time, explain each step, and never rush you.
2. Agree on a stop signal
Raise your hand any time you need a break. You're in control, and we'll stop right away.
3. Ask what's happening, or ask us not to tell you
Some people feel calmer knowing every detail. Others would rather not. Either is fine. Just let us know which you prefer.
4. Start small
Your first visit can be just an exam and X-rays, with no treatment that day. You'll leave with a clear plan and time to think it over.
5. Bring headphones
Music or a podcast can block out sounds that make you tense. Many patients find it helps the time go faster.
6. Pick a quiet time
An early appointment means less time to worry during the day. Ask us which times are usually calmest.
7. Remember: no lectures
Whether it's been six months or six years, you're welcome here. We focus on where you are now and what comes next, not on how long it's been.
“I have severe dental anxiety and had avoided dentists for years. They were so caring and gentle and have totally transformed my experience.”
