Many Medicare dental benefits renew each year and do not roll over. A yearly checkup and cleaning helps you catch small problems early, when they are easier and less costly to treat.

What dental plans usually cover
Every plan is different, but most PPO dental plans follow a similar pattern:
- Preventive care, like exams, cleanings and X-rays, is often covered at or near 100%.
- Basic care, like fillings and simple extractions, is usually partly covered.
- Major care, like crowns, root canals and dentures, is usually covered at a lower percentage.
- Cosmetic care, like whitening and veneers, is usually not covered.
Most plans also have a yearly maximum, and some have waiting periods for major work. We will look up the details of your plan for you.
